10 Things I Hate About You (100165, Broadway) — the Lena Dunham / Jessica Huang book with a Carly Rae Jepsen and Ethan Gruska score; first Broadway performance 2027-08-17, theatre not yet announced. Queen for a Day (100161) at The Tank — Halston has one day to build a gown for Elizabeth I, who has been dead since 1603; Sept 4–14, 75 minutes. Penguin Goes to Flight School (100163) at the Actors Temple Theatre — Vital Theatre’s family musical, Sunday mornings Sept 27–Oct 25. All three are on Coming Soon placeholders; none had conforming vertical key art at any source.

100157 Going Bacharach: The Songs of an Icon landed as slug going-bacharach-2 beside the existing 8500 going-bacharach. 100159 After All These Years: The Musicals of Al Tapper collided with 100094 after-all-these-years-al-tapper. Both are draft, both 404 on their own URL, and both originals still serve 200. Nothing was deleted.

Cause, measured. The slug-prefix dedupe ran against slugify(candidate_name) but the create sent a hand-shortened slug. slugify("Going Bacharach: The Songs of an Icon") is going-bacharach-the-songs-of-an-icon, which does not prefix-match going-bacharach. Same shape on After All These Years, where the discovery source carried the short title and Playbill the long one. The test has to run on the slug that will actually be sent, and in both directions. Third recorded instance of this class — Kramer/Fauci on 09-07 was the second.

Upcoming removed from 8526 The Hope Theory, 8500 Going Bacharach, 8112 In Honor of Jean-Michel Basquiat and 7936 Truly, Howard Hughes — all four began performances today. 100094 After All These Years close date 20261008 → 20261010, agreed by Playbill and TodayTix independently.

A9 offer add: 6524 School Girls; or, The African Mean Girls Play gained the missing TodayTix $49 digital rush, read from TodayTix’s own API this run on isRushActive=true / lowPriceForRushTickets.value=49 — never areRushTicketsAvailable, which reads false right now. It renders on the live product page as “Digital Rush $49”.

Checked and left alone: 7934 The Pass was flagged CLOSED-STILL-SELLING because NYTG still quotes a price. Playbill confirms the Sept 4 close. The tag is right; NYTG is stale. The second-source rule did its job.

Tooling Repaired

set_show_tag.py works again. It had been failing every tag write since the Hetzner origin was stopped on 09-05.

Cause: the tool built WPWrite unconditionally and raised WPWriteError: SSH key not found before attempting anything. The WordPress half is now vestigial — bitc-d1-nightly-delta stopped running run_delta() on 08-22, the reconcile half of bitc-d1-morning-recapture was deleted 08-29, and the public site renders from D1. The tool now degrades to a D1-only write when WordPress is unreachable, prints WP=SKIPPED(origin-down), and still fails unless the D1 read is answered by bitc-site-shim. Proven by all four Upcoming removals above.

Still open: retire_lottery_data() needs the dead origin, so closing a show can tag it but cannot retire its offer data. No show closed today, so nothing on the site is wrong yet — the next real close will hit it.

FIXED

Yoast template: “Opening at the a Broadway house”.

A hardcoded the sat in front of a fallback string that already carries its own article, so any Broadway UPCOMING show with no theater_name got a broken OG title. 10 Things I Hate About You would have shipped with it today. The article is now emitted only when a real theatre is on file.

The One Thing Worth a Decision

The 480×720 poster gate is now the binding constraint on the whole content pipeline.

All 9 placeholders within 14 days of first performance were probed. 0 upgraded. Either no candidate exists at any source, or a 480×720 NYTG candidate was rejected by upscale_detail_loss() — Lean-To at 102, After All These Years at 391, 10 Things I Hate About You at 106, against a threshold of 80.

NYTG serves 480×720 as its standard key-art size, so every photographic NYTG poster is a candidate for that rejection, and each rejection keeps a show on a coming-soon card. That now blocks social as well as the page: the Pinterest backlog sits at 47 with all 16 attempted shows deferred on the pHash guard, and all 3 of today’s new shows deferred out of IG, FB, Reels and Pinterest for the same reason. The threshold is a picture-quality trade, so it is Brad’s to set rather than a run’s to move.
